My approach is collaborative, compassionate and practical.

Recognising that the therapeutic relationship is key for effective therapy I offer a free, no obligation, 20 minute initial consultation via video or telephone for you to briefly outline the support you are looking for. If I believe an alternative approach or service would be more suitable for you we will make recommendations at this stage.

If you’re happy to work together then we’ll book an initial assessment session where we can consider the focus for your therapy and explore in more detail how CBT and/or ERP could be helpful for you. This will include a number of questions to help understand the main difficulties which you are experiencing, how they developed and how they impact you day to day. I will also be able to give you an idea of the number of sessions you may need which generally ranges between 12 – 20.

Treatment sessions are held weekly (in line with NICE guidelines for OCD treatment) and last 50 minutes. My approach is collaborative, compassionate and practical, recognising that you are the expert in you. At the start of treatment we will agree some goals to help guide therapy, checking in on these at regular points during treatment.

My aim is to get you to the point where you don't feel you need therapy for your OCD and feel confident implementing the changes learnt in session independently.

To achieve this and for CBT and/or ERP to be effective it relies on you working on things outside of sessions and so we’ll always spend some time each session thinking about what tasks you could work on before we next meet.
